GBA Press ReleasesLetter concerning ODPsDated: 24th Jan '07 To, 2. The Chief Secretary, 3. The Secretary, 4. The Chief Town Planner, Subject:- Approval of the Outline Development Plans. Dear Sir, We understand that the new Outline Development Plans of the 5 Urban areas will be sent to the Government for approval and final Notification, as required under Section 36 of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1974. We place our strong objection before the Government to approval of the ODPs as the same has not followed the due process required for preparation of the Development Plans. Section 29 of the Act requires that the local authority i.e. the Municipalities be consulted before preparation of the plan. This has not been done and we have evidence to prove this. Objections were also raised in this regard and to the new zoning changes made in the Plan. We request that an enquiry be conducted in the matter by the Government and no Final Notification under Section 37 be issued. We hope that the Government will respect the provisions of the law in this regard and more importantly the 74th Amendment to the Constitution of India |
