Agitation to continue: Dr Rebello

NT Staff Reporter
Panaji, Jan 4
The convener of Goa Bachao Abhiyan, Dr Oscar Rebello today said that he would not react to the resignation of the Town and Country Planning Minister, Mr Atanasio Monseratte. Dr Rebello said that the Abhiyan would continue until the Regional Plan 2011 is scrapped.

“We do not want to react to the resignation of the Town and Country Planning Minister. Our goal is not any individual or any political party. Our target is the scrapping of Regional Plan 2011,” Dr Rebello said.

“It doesn’t make any difference to us. What do we gain out of it? We want the regional plan to be scrapped,” he stressed. Dr Rebello said “The entire Cabinet is responsible for the plan as it is not one person’s decision alone. Mere minor changes will not satisfy us - the whole Regional plan 2011 needs to be scrapped,” he reiterated.
The plan has generated controversy across the state as people believe that there are some stipulations which are against the public good.
