News ArticlesCM calls... but fails to keep an appointmentHERALD A late evening press note issued here by the GBA stated the CM failed to keep his appointment at 4.30 pm with the GBA and village groups’ delegation at his official residence. Delegation members who came from far off places were kept standing outside his residence for more than an hour, it stated.
The press note further stated the CM did not even have the courtesy to inform the delegation that he would not be able to meet them. It is only when a senior citizen delegate called him that the CM informed he would meet the delegation next week without specifying the details, it mentioned. GBA has appreciated the role played by Mapusa MLA Francis D’Souza in raising the concerns raised by GBA and village groups with respect to the finalisation of the RP as well as the introduction of the model TCP Act 1998 in the Assembly to give a legal basis for participatory planning.GBA said it sincerely hoped that the opposition MLAs will also follow up this issue force fully in the next Assembly session if the ruling party failed on the RP promise. However, the GBA softening its stand against the CM said it appreciated the categorical statement on the RP made by him on the concluding day of the Assembly where he honoured his promise by stating his commitment to finalise the plan in six months and not to allow permissions in eco-sensitive zones. |
