GBA warns ruling MLAs over RP-2011

PANJIM, JAN 24 – The Goa Bachao Abhiyan has noted with dismay that inspite of the public demand to de-notify the Regional Plan 2011 with retrospective effect ie from 10.8.2006, the MLA’s who constitute the ruling alliance ie the Congress, NCP and MGP have not made their stand clear on the floor of the House which is currently in session.

“The people of Goa demand that these MLAs make their stand clear before the January 25, 2007, or face the wrath of the people”, warned GBA stated in a press release.

GBA has called upon gram sabhas of all the villages to strongly oppose the RP 2011 and demand for its de-notification with retrospective effect ie from 10.8.2007(the day, the Regional Plan 2011 was notified) by passing a resolution to this effect on January 26, 2007.

The Republic Day holds strong significance to the cause since the government has shown no respect to the Constitution of India by completely ignoring the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments, as they have not consulted the local bodies while formulating the Regional Plan 2011, the release further adds.
