News ArticlesInvolve people in decision making, GBA urges govtNT News Desk Panaji, Feb 11 The Goa Bachao Abhiyan (GBA) has urged the government to go a step forward by involving the people of Goa in the decision-making and formulation of a new people-centric regional plan
In a press statement, the GBA stated that since the government has denotified the Regional Plan 2011 with retrospective effect keeping in mind the wishes of the people of Goa, it would like the government to go a step forward by involving the people of Goa in the decision-making and formulation of a new people-centric regional plan, by officially bringing into operation the 73rd and 74th amendments to the Constitution of India, in the planning process. The convenor of GBA, Mr Oscar Rebello said the TCP Act, 1974, needs to be reviewed and amended to ensure that the people of Goa are participants in the vision for Goa and subsequent planning for their future. The GBA will be keeping a watch on further developments as regards this denotification. âA system of checks and balances with total transparency should be put in place,â he said. It however expects that the government will work in cognizance of the aspirations of the people and live up to their expectations, the press note said. |
