News ArticlesIT Habitat land given for malls, alleges ParrikarNT Staff Reporter Panaji, Feb 23 The leader of the opposition, Mr Manohar Parrikar today alleged that the government is involved in unscrupulous sale of land around the state, including that reserved for the Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat, at Dona Paula. Addressing a press conference, at the state BJP headquarters, Mr Parrikar said that the IT Corporation has floated tender for construction of a shopping mall in the IT Habitat, even though the area is exclusively reserved for IT-related units. Interestingly, at least three companies who had quoted for the tender have complained to the IT Corporation that they have not received any tender documents, Mr Parrikar said, alleging a scam as related to awarding the tender to a particular agency. The Bharatiya Janata Party, after the forthcoming budget session of the state assembly, will file at least a dozen criminal cases against various such frauds, he informed. The leader of the opposition also cautioned the government officials not to be a part of such fraudulent deals, which may put them in deep trouble, in the future. The sale of lands includes 2,35,375 sq mt of land sold to one Mr Sandeep Agarwal of Sweta Estate Pvt Ltd, at Curca-Santan, Bambolim, under the institution category; another one admeasuring 2,90,000 sq mt of land sold to one Mr Wilson Valadaris, at Carambolim, under no category and a comunidade orchard land at Lolyem, Canacona admeasuring 42,000 sq mt, besides several others, Mr Parrikar said. He also alleged that the Chief Minister, Mr Pratapsingh Rane was giving wrong information about the Special Economic Zones, proposed to be set up in the state. The SEZ policy of the state government, especially about the acquisition and sale of lands is completely different from that of the central government; the central government strictly opposing use of the agricultural land for the SEZs, Mr Parrikar maintained. |
